Description
Key Features
- Lush, Vibrant Green: The solid green leaves are a deep, saturated shade, providing an excellent textural contrast to other houseplants.
- Dense Growth Habit: This variety naturally grows thick and bushy, making it an excellent filler plant or groundcover in large planters.
- Easy Propagation: Like its cousins in the Tradescantia family, this plant is incredibly easy to propagate, allowing you to easily share and multiply your collection.
- Hardy & Resilient: This reverted form is less prone to browning tips and is generally more forgiving of common indoor conditions than the variegated version.
Care Instructions
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light for the most compact growth, but it is quite tolerant of moderate light conditions. Too little light will cause the plant to stretch (become “leggy”).
- Watering: This plant enjoys consistently lightly moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry to the touch. Avoid letting it sit in soggy soil.
- Temperature: Thrives in standard warm room temperatures, ideally 16°C to 25°C.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. It has a shallow root system and appreciates wide, shallow pots.
- Pruning: Pinch back the stems regularly to encourage a fuller, bushier shape. Cuttings can be rooted directly in the soil or in water!
