I named my blog Green Monstera because Monsteras, in general, are my favourite plants, and I find Monstera Deliciosa, in particular, a brilliant plant.

About a year ago, in my infancy regarding houseplants, I found a Monstera Deliciosa clipping next to the bin. I took it home and turned it into a healthy plant, but the journey wasn’t as easy as that article suggests.
My plant had four leaves and decided to fashion herself in a propeller shape. During this year I cut the base leaf with a healthy root system and placed it in a separate planter. Each plant grew only one new leaf, to my disappointment.
This spring I united both plants in a planter and kept them condensed with the help of a bamboo stick and some garden twine. I finally obtained a better looking plant and the bigger one had a leaf on the way.

To my delight, my partner brought home two big Monsteras from a supermarket. After taking them out of the pots, I noticed many plants clumped in each pot, some of them very young. I figured the plants were grown from seeds with different germination times.
After a few hours I managed to detangle the roots and remove the rotting bits. I placed all of them in a big pot with a mix of compost, orchid bark and perlite. It was quite a challenge, but I planted them with some space between each plant, not clumped in the middle of the pot.

Every time I water them I use Baby Bio fertilizer and, after keeping them for two weeks indoors, I took the planter in the garden, so they can enjoy a bit of rain once in a while. I keep the pot in shade, because direct sun light can scorch the leaves, but they can definitely enjoy more light outside. The temperatures at night don’t fall unde 10°C, so there is no risk until October.
The biggest risk in the garden are slugs, as I noticed last year, when a leaf served as late night snack. Now I’m using blue pellets in all pots outside, and not a single plant was attached by slugs. Moreover, the quantity of slugs in the garden decreased considerably since I’m using this pellets.

In my Green Monstera forest I have at least three emerging leaves at any given time, and even a double fenestration leaf. I am looking forward to seeing what new shape they will take.
