I absolutely adore Monstera Adansonii; this beautiful plant boasts unique, split leaves that add a tropical flair to a home (or office).

In February I received two Monstera Adansonii runners from a very unhappy office plant. I chopped them into around 25 wetsticks and placed them in a box with perlite.

By the time spring came, all of them developed roots and new grow points, so I moved all of them in little pots with aroid mix – compost, perlite and orchid bark.

Although I am keeping them in a closed transparent box to make sure they maintain appropriate humidity levels, I do take them out to feed them from time to time with Baby Bio houseplant fertiliser.

Some of my baby plants have their second leaf out and have the cutest tiny fenestrations, therefore I’m organising this competition to give away 5 baby Monstera Adansonii to 5 lucky subscribers! Head over to the pop-up on this blog to subscribe to my newsletter and enter the competition.

The deadline to enter is 15th of September. Competition open to UK resident only. Winners will be randomly selected and announced shortly after. Good luck!

If you’re one of the lucky winners, read further to learn how to care for a Monstera Adansonii.

Light: Monstera Adansonii prefers bright, indirect light. Harsh midday sun can scorch the leaves. East or north-facing windows are ideal.

Water: These plants enjoy consistent moisture, but don’t like sitting in soggy soil.

Soil: A well-draining potting mix is crucial, a mixture containing perlite, orchid bark is optimal drainage and aeration.

Humidity: While Monstera Adansonii can tolerate average household humidity, they thrive in a more humid environment. Grouping plants together, using a pebble tray, or misting occasionally can help increase humidity.

Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), Monstera Adansonii benefits from a balanced houseplant fertilizer.

Support: As Monstera Adansonii grows, it may benefit from a moss pole or trellis to climb on. This will encourage bushier growth and aerial root development.
